Create a bill of sale for a private vehicle sale!

A bill of sale is often used in a private sale to transfer ownership of a vehicle to the new owner. It includes information about the vehicle, the buyer and seller, and must be signed by all parties for it to be valid depending on the Provincial regulations.

You can use our bill of sale template as a supplementary piece of documentation in any Province to aid in your private vehicle sale since it includes general information of the buyer, seller, vehicle, dates and agreed upon amount. But requirements vary in each Province for the private sale of a vehicle, and you will likely need supplementary documentation like a safety Certificate of Inspection (COI) or Transfer of Ownership Document (TOD) to complete your sale. The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is a 17-digit set of numbers and characters that is used to uniquely identify your vehicle. It is required in our bill of sale template and can usually be found on the corner of the driver’s side dashboard, which you can quickly view through your windshield.
